Familial hypercholesterolemia<\/p>\n<p>2. Unhealthy diet<\/p>\n<p>3. Obesity<\/p>\n<p>The test is a simple and short procedure and is done through blood sampling.<\/p>\n<p>When should I test my child&#8217;s cholesterol?<\/p>\n<p>According to international guidelines:<\/p>\n<p>\u25ba All children should be screened at age 9-11 and if values are normal, screen should be repeated at age 17-21.<\/p>\n<p>\u25ba Children over 2 years of age should be screened if:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least one parent or close relative has cholesterol &gt; 240 mg\/dL.<\/li>\n<li>If there is a family history of early cardiovascular disease before age 55 for men and before age 65 for women.<\/li>\n<li>If they have diseases such as kidney disease, Kawasaki disease or idiopathic juvenile arthritis.<\/li>\n<li>If they are obese or overweight.<\/li>\n<li>If they have diabetes or hypertension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u25ba Testing is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Is it possible for a child to have high cholesterol?
