It is then excreted by bile.<\/p>\n<p>HDL cholesterol is therefore useful in the human body and people with high HDL\u00a0 are reported to have a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease. This is why it is also known as \u201cgood\u201d cholesterol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sample<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Venous blood<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12 hour fasting prior to testing.
